How is lack of self-trust destroying you? : You gotta read this one!
Initially, I faced a lot of struggle in waking up early; I used to make a promise to myself every night before sleeping that tomorrow is going to be my day, but I always failed terribly. Annoying mornings, with me snoozing the alarm after every 10 minutes, making hollow promises to myself that I’ll wake up after 10 minutes, but I never did! I always used to set the alarm for 6 am and ended up waking up by 11–12 pm. I kept making fun of myself telling my friends about what happens with me every morning. I never understood that by doing this I was contributing to destroying the trust I had in myself.
One day I sat and introspected, I thought to myself that even when I make a promise to myself every night, then how time and again I fail in fulfilling it? The answer to this came by very easily!
If you say that you are gonna do something and set a goal but in the back of your mind, you don’t have enough trust and commitment to honor it, you’ll never be able to realize your goal.
I always promised myself superficially that ‘No matter what I’m going to get up!’ but at the back of my mind, I still doubted myself. I kept on making fun of myself, I told my friends and family that ‘I’ll never be able to do this!”. This degraded my self-belief, self-confidence, and the trust I had in myself. My foundation was becoming weak day by day and I could feel it.
When you keep on making hollow promises, you are bound to lose faith in yourself. With each unfulfilled promise, you shed a bit of self-esteem and confidence even before noticing it.
The dangerous part is that you will only notice its effect when it will start taking a toll on you. Just like when you eat unhealthy for 2 months straight, you will start feeling anxious, depressed and weak. Each day you consumed a little bit but you didn’t notice what you were doing to your body in the long run, the effects start becoming visible after a considerable amount of time.
Making false promises to yourself is just like consuming poison, a poison so venomous, that it can strangle your dreams and aspirations to death. This is how dangerous it can be when you fail to build a healthy and trustworthy relationship with yourself.
When you lose trust in yourself, you’ll destroy your capabilities even before realizing them. You’ll never realize that you can also become fit if you keep on making promises to start working out only to break them, you’ll never realize that you can score good marks if you falsely promise yourself to study sincerely. The only thing you’re doing here is dismantling the trust you have in yourself.
Trusting in yourself is the only Super-Power that will help you live a life that you truly desire. You are capable of doing everything you desire to do. You have infinite power to conquer any battle which comes your way but you always paint the canvas of your intelligence and creativity with self-doubt, which leads to unfulfilled promises.
Make trust and loyalty the foundation of your relationship with yourself. This will allow you to build a healthy base and a fulfilling life.
Lack of self-trust and self-belief can ruin our lives in a way we could never imagine. With each unfulfilled and hollow promise, you become one step closer to lower self-esteem and many other mental and physical health issues.
